IMPORTANT: Effective July 1st,House Bill (F.S. ) prohibits local governments from requiring"a notice, application, approval, permit, fee, or mitigation for the pruning, trimming, or removal of a tree on residential property if the property owner obtains documentation from an arborist certified by the International Society of Arboriculture or a Florida licensed landscape.
Manatee County Government regulates the planting, removal and preservation of trees in order to protect and enhance valuable natural resources. A tree removal permit is required for Homeowner Association (HOA) common areas, commercial sites and conservation areas.
Trees located in a common area, commercial property, or conservation area are regulated differently than residential street trees by Manatee County.
The Tree Removal Permit (TRP) application must be submitted through our Online Services system. The cost for a TRP isfor removal of up to 15 trees andfor removal of over 15 trees. Tree trimming is performed in areas with the greatest need and scheduling priorities can change based on community and safety demands. In most cases, a tree will be trimmed beyond the minimum standards and Manatee County has specified a range of 16’ – 18’ over roadways and 10’ - 12’ over sidewalks to ensure reasonable maintenance.
